7th Grade  You have the choice to do a research paper on Ancient Israel (with the same guidelines as in previous quarters) or you may prepare a Power Point presentation or you may produce a model. Models must include a two page paper. All papers are to be in MLA format with works cited, etc.

Rough drafts are due (five page papers) April 1, 2010. Your final paper/project is due April 29, 2010. Each person will give a presentation to the class beginning on 4.29.10.

Your food project is due April 8, 2010. Research foods from Ancient Israel and prepare enough for 13 people.

8th Grade  You will be researching the Civil War era of our country. Four 3 page papers will be due during the quarter. Your first paper is due Monday March 8, 2010. I will give you two handouts relating to the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution. Your assignment is to use the handouts and other research to produce a paper on the 10th Amendment’s relationship to the ability of states to secede from the Union (pre-Civil War years). We will discuss your papers in class on 3.8.10. The third page of each paper should be used to share with me what you have learned in doing your research paper.

Your food project is due April 9, 2010. Research foods of the mid 19th Century and prepare enough for 10-12 people.

I will give you more details in class on assignments that are due 3.15.10 (battles), 3.29.10 Northern and Southern Prisons, 4.26.10 Slavery via an online video.

You may earn extra credit by doing a two page paper on Captain Wirz of Andersonville Prison or Captain Semmes who was commander of the CSS Alabama. These papers are due 5.10.10

9th & 10th Grades You will have a minimum of two position papers due during the quarter. The same format will be used as was used in the 3rd Quarter, except the papers must be typed. The first paper is due April 1, 2010. The second paper is due on April 22, 2010.
